Rock and Water

Moving water in a garden adds a sense of drama to an outdoor space, The sound of water can be soothing or used to mask sounds like the distant hum of a road or motorway. The reflections that pools between falls create are always changing and add a different element. Not only are they nice for people to enjoy but they can also add another service for surrounding wildlife. Birds will choose a suitable rock to bathe on in the current. This is especially entertaining if you have children. A stream is a safer way to incorporate water into a garden with slightly older children. The pools can be made shallow rather than a deep pond and the end sump can be covered with a metal grid and rocks to stop children from falling in.

Outstanding garden design – we thought our space would be too small to achieve much and all we said to Neil was that we wanted water to be the focal point. The result is stunning, attracts wildlife and is a beautiful space that incorporates water and local stone to great effect. We couldn’t be more impressed with both his ideas and delivery – well worth the time it took to create.
